The DSVC Student Show and Conference website is now NationalStudentConference.org. Speakers and studio tours aren’t yet available, but the site definitely has more to click through than the previous placeholder. They also have an RSS feed.

I’d like to apologize for the CSS tutorial tonight. I forgot to account for the varying levels of web experience/knowledge. And since the next tutorial was going to be advanced CSS techniques, I decided to cater to those who had no experience in web tonight. Even though, after the fact, it was probably way too much information for them to absorb regardless.

So to make up for the apparent boredom, next tutorial will be hardcore. All are welcome to attend, but I promise there will be material Berg didn’t cover in Web I.

Heck! If there’s something that’s been bugging you or you’ve always wondered how they did something, leave a comment and I’ll tell you how to do it next Thursday. Please leave comments before Wednesday so I can prepare.

American Advertising Federation of Shreveport-Bossier (AAFSB) is hosting its annual design competition. On average, students from Tech submit 25 entries and claim 9 awards each year; that’s a 36% placement rate.

If you’ve taken, or are currently enrolled in, one of the following classes, you most likely have a competition-worthy entry:

Gary Hauser will be holding a FAQ/interest meeting this Thursday (18) @ 11:30AM in VAC119. He will discuss “entry categories, submission requirements, and talk about the awards banquet to be held early next year.”

Entry deadline is Friday, January 9th @ 3PM in Mr. Hauser’s hands.

Email Hauser if you have questions before Thursday’s meeting.

Mad Genius Trip

Mad Genius, Inc. has been an annual destination for this group since 2006. Mad Genius has been servicing Richland, MS, since the separation from its sister company Eyevox, home of the one of the largest sound stage and post-production video facilities in the Gulf South. Rob Bridges, partner and art director at Mad Genius, is a graduate from Louisiana Tech University.

UG2 will be visiting Mad Genius this Friday! Free to all UG2 members! The caravan will leave early Friday morning from the VAC parking lot, and will be returning later that evening. Please be prepared to buy your own lunch.

If you wish to go, attendance at this Thursday’s meeting is mandatory. We need to pair drivers with passengers, and you are not guaranteed a seat unless you attend Thursday night.

Drivers: You will be given $20 for gas Friday morning.
Passengers: The trip is 2 hours one way; bring something to keep yourself entertained without distracting/annoying the driver.
