What’s in a Road Sign?

I tend to keep an eye on our European friends, mostly because the design of Europe is typically a little less confined and often far more experimental than your average American work. Conventions and ideas can be vastly different across the Atlantic, and it’s to every artist and designer’s benefit to stay educated on the European creative scene. They’re just usually one or two steps ahead.
Here’s an example of what I’m talking about. The Unchi Leisure Center has been involved in a project called PANOS 2013. They have involved designers and digital artists from around the world and have created a great many “fake” street signs. These have been posted around Lyon, France, turning the city into something of a “gallery without walls,” as they like to call it. Take a look and enjoy imagining what sort of confusion this is causing among the poor Lyonians. Also, take some time to check out a few of the notable designers’ sites, linked at the top of the article.
